Expert Medical Opinion

Provided by a team of medical experts at Teladoc Health

A lot of questions go through your mind when you have been diagnosed with a serious illness, or you are living with a chronic condition. However, knowing what you are dealing with, and getting advice from a global expert, can provide you and your treating doctor a clear path to move forward.

The Teladoc Health assigned expert can provide you with a second opinion to help you make confident health decisions when you have questions about a diagnosis, treatment options, or the need for surgery.

Our team of international medical experts will review and advise on a wide variety of conditions such as:

  • Knee, joint, and back pain
  • Different types of cancer and tumours
  • Digestive and stomach issues
  • Any health condition causing you concern (excluding emergency and dental situations)

A Teladoc Health assigned GP will support you throughout the process and will work with our medical experts to provide you with a confidential and in-depth report that will detail your diagnosis and treatment.

Please note this is not an emergency service and requests will be processed Monday to Friday 10am – 7pm NZT.

Who can use this service?

Eligible Vero customers with a Farm & Lifestyle Block policy can access this service at no additional cost.

How does it work?

Request an Expert Medical Opinion and get your diagnosis or treatment double-checked.

  • 1 Request an Expert Medical Opinion

Contact us to trigger the start of the Expert Medical Opinion service. A dedicated New Zealand GP will be appointed to support you throughout the process.

  • 2 Collection of medical records

A GP will contact you to discuss your case in detail and collect any medical records on your behalf.

  • 3 Review of medical records

An expert analyses the clinical information, along with the information you provided on the first call, and identifies the key issues.

  • 4 Select the best expert

An expert is selected that is knowledgeable in the field relevant to your specific condition.

  • 5 Analyse the case

The Expert reviews the case and the supporting materials. Once reviewed, they will send an in-depth report with advice on your diagnosis and treatment options.

  • 6 Review the report and share with your treating doctors

The GP will discuss the report with you, which you can then share with your treating doctors.

An Expert Medical Opinion can help you to understand your diagnosis and, if necessary, may recommend an alternative treatment.

This is not an emergency service. If you are feeling unwell contact your local emergency services (111 in New Zealand).
